The Yoga Sutras are one of the ancient texts of yoga compiled by Patanjali. They begin with a starting definition of Yoga: “Yogas Chitta Vritti Nirodhah”—which has been translated as, “Yoga is the cessation of fluctuations in the mind” or put into more modern parlance: “Yoga is the stilling of the mind.”

Yoga Classes

I began practicing yoga in 2001. I studied yoga for a semester in Varanasi, India in 2004 and began to learn about meditation at a retreat in Bodh Gaya. I received my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2011, and my 500-hour Yoga Teacher Certification in 2017--both through Sivananda Ashrams.

I offer private yoga classes, now via Zoom (in-person private classes in Cambridge, MA will resume when it is safe to do so). The physical practice of yoga can create conditions in your body, where working towards stilling your mind is more possible. Private lessons will include asanas (yoga postures) and may include pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. You can schedule a class with me by emailing arrington@human-becomings.com. Sliding scale fee: $50-70.
